Summary of Renewing Passport
Today I want to summarize the process of renewing CHN passort and some useful resources.

事先准备:
- 一个苹果手机，已经安装好 微信和 “中国领事”。三星手机不可以下载“中国领事”APP。
- 两寸彩色近期照片三张, 电子版也需要准备好 (33 mm x 48 mm, 354 px x 472 px)
- 下载 中国护照/旅行证申办承诺书
- 旧护照
- 美国驾照 (验证地址用)
Pre-actions:
- One iphone with Wchat and "中国领事" installed.
- Color photos, three pieces of print out (33 mm x 48 mm, 354 px x 472 px)
- Download 中国护照/旅行证申办承诺书
- Old passport
- Driver license (verify the address)
办理流程:
- Mar 23, 2024 ― signed 中国护照/旅行证申办承诺书， upload “承诺书” and the photo of the driver license, fill the reqired information in "中国领事" APP and pay RMB 169 ($23) via wechat. 状态为“初审中”
- Mar 26, 2024 ― “初审中” 变成 “复审中”

Mar 29, 2024 ― shipped the priority mail with the following items:
(1) old passport,
(2) three pieces of the color print out,
(3) a pre-paid priority mail with a stamp,
(4) the screenshot with the order number and “复审中”。 - Apr 2, 2024, ― the priority mail arrived at Chinese Embassy Washington D.C.
- Apr 6, 2024 ― “复审中” 变成 “待制证”
- Apr 11, 2024 ― “待制证” 变成 “已寄出”
- Apr 14, 2024 ― 已经收到priority mail with the old passport and the new passport.
Notes 1: 办理第一步时，需要上传电子版已签字“申办承诺书”,扫描的PDF无法上传,只能选择摄像头拍照上传。
Notes 2: 回信信封应对折放进去信信封里。两封信封都要写上地址, 正面写上名字和护照办理。记得索取去信和回信的tracking number。
